New Beginnings

There's a lot of "New Beginnings" in my life right now. We sent our baby off to college! She's attending UVSC (soon to be UVU) and living with Katie and Jed. They, along with Tawnya and Landon (and Lucas and Kody) are keeping track of her! We are officially empty nesters. I had to go upstairs this morning and it was kind of "spooky" with no one to wake up. I would always holler at Nappy to get up and get ready for school. It will take some time getting used to her being gone. It seems our lives revolved around her with going to watch her play ball for the last 4 years. I'm not coaching volleyball anymore - (Jessica graduated and so did I!) so I come home from work and stay! I miss the girls but I am enjoying my free time. I'll go watch a few matches and keep track of them!

Also, our ward got split Sunday. Very sad! Our house is the last house that stayed in Honeyville 3rd ward. The rest of them south of us go to Harper Ward. (Harper Ward was divided into two wards). I'll miss all of those people that we've known for such a long time. They are wonderful friends and neighbors. Our Bishopric was released so Mark is a free man! (for a minute!) We have a new Bishopric that will do a great job.

The County Fair was last weekend and that is a big event in this county! Mark did his business booth again which requires a lot of time being out there. He enjoys being out there all day - I have to take breaks! Katie and the boys came up Tuesday, Wed. and Thursday. Tawnya and Jessica were here for the weekend. It was fun to have the kids come and help too. We might get AC and Shara out here for it next year!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

I need to wish my wonderful DAD a very Happy 79th Birthday today (Aug. 15th). I have some awesome pictures but I can't get them to post yet. (I need help!) I scanned them in but.....

He was born on the same day as his Dad. (I also have a picture of my grandpa). What a great birthday present for a Dad!

A little history of my Dad:

He was born in Virden, NM and lived there all of his life until 1993 when he and my mom retired and moved to Mesa. He loved farming and did a great job at it. He raised cattle, cotton and alfalfa, and 5 kids! (4 daughters, 1 son). We all helped him on the farm, moving cows up and down the highway (his farm was scattered in the Virden Valley) hoeing cotton, picking rocks, burning ditches, etc. (and we grumbled quite often! )

He also delivered mail - the friendliest mailman ever - and you could always find him visiting with someone along the route. (after his Dr. Pepper stop at Boyd Brothers!)

He loved to watch his kids play sports and was the greatest Sideline Coach ever. Loves his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He always fulfilled his church callings and loves the gospel. He loves and knows the scriptures. He was called to be Bishop of the Virden Ward for 6 years.

Love you lots Dad and hope you have great birthday!

Weekend Projects

Here's my projects I've accomplished this weekend. The blanket binding has caused me much stress! It's a "Floppy" blanket. My sister, Nyla, has done them and "told" me how to do them. I couldn't get the binding to look nice so a friend of mine suggested to just do a running stitch on it. It turned out much better and actually looks kind of cute! Not sure that I'll do a silky binding again until Nyla "shows" me how to do it. (However the corners did turn out nice! - they caused much stress at first also!).
Shara has been doing "pillowcase" dresses so I thought I'd try one - not sure about it either!

Happy Anniversary Katie and Jed

Happy 5th Anniversary Katie and Jed! I went to the Logan Temple today and thought of your day 5 years ago. What a perfect day it was! Sunny, warm and beautiful. The temple grounds were so pretty today also. Hope you have many, many (actually an eternity) of years to come! We love you so much. (Sorry I don't have a picture to post- look at Katie's blog!)
